To use the standard CV Search, turn off the Smart Search option.
Go to the CV Search page to open the search feature.
Enter your search criteria on the left-hand side and select the databases you want to search.
In the Keywords section, type your search terms.
Then click 'Search' to view the matching candidates below the keyword search area.
1. Save Search
You can save your search, including the keywords, by clicking the 'Save Search' button. This option also lets you set up a Watchdog, which sends you email alerts when new candidates match your search criteria.
Set as Watchdog - A Watchdog sends you regular email updates when new candidates match your search.
You can choose:
You can create up to 10 Watchdogs.
2. Set Filter as Default
You can select 'Set Filter as Default' to save your current filter settings for all future searches. When you return, the filters will already be set to your preferred values.
If you change your search criteria, you can:
- Click Reset to Default to return to your defined default values, or
- Click Clear All Filters to remove all filters and return to the system default values.
To view the search results, scroll to the bottom of the search box and click the Search button
You can click on a candidate to view their CV. Use the arrow buttons at the top of the page to navigate between CVs. You can also download the CV, email it to yourself, save it to a folder, or shortlist it for a job.
Using Smart CV Search
Smart CV Search uses AI to help you quickly find suitable candidates by automatically matching related job titles, skills, and qualifications.
This feature saves time and provides more relevant results.
Go to CV Search on the top navigation menu.
The Smart Search panel is on the left-hand side under Filters.
Make sure the toggle is set to On.
Step 1 – Turn on Smart options
Select the filters you want to use:
Related Job Titles – includes similar or alternative titles
Skills – matches relevant skills for the role
Degrees – includes related qualifications
Related Software – finds candidates with relevant tools or systems experience
Turning on more options gives wider results. Turning off options gives more precise results.
Step 2 – Enter a job title
Type the role into the Job Title box at the top
Examples: Lead Developer, Project Manager, Nurse
Choose one of the following options:
As you start typing, you will see a list of suggested job titles that already exist in the system.
You can add multiple titles to expand your search.
When you hover over the title you want to add to the search, a popup will appear on the right showing the keywords the search will use. These are grouped into job title, skills, or software, and each group has a different colour that will highlight those keywords in the CV preview.
A Boolean box will automatically show the keywords being used for the search.
Edit your search terms
Click the edit icon next to the search title to view more details about the keywords used for:
Job titles
Skills
Degree
Related software
You can modify the search by adding or removing specific terms.
You can also exclude specific keywords from the search in the 'Excluded terms (NOT)' section.
When you finish updating the searched terms for your job title, click 'Use Boolean'. At this stage, your changes are only temporary and are not saved.
If you want to keep them for future use, click 'Search' and then
'Save Search'.
Step 3 - Click Search
Press the green Search button to run your search.
You will see a list of matching candidates, with matching keywords highlighted in the results.
Step 4 – View results
Click on the CV database you want to view results from.
Step 5- Viewing candidates
Click a candidate name or the 'eye' icon to view their details.
Remember that each CV preview will use your CV Search credits.
You can also hide candidates you have already viewed, or use the Sort by filter to sort candidates by relevance to your search, distance or by candidates' activity.
To view candidates details, click on the box with candidate results or the 'eye' icon.
It will open the CV Preview. Remember that every CV Preview uses a credit from your CV Search contract.
At the top of the CV Preview, you have the following options:
- Send this CV to your email address
- Download it
- Shortlist this candidate for your existing job
- Save this CV to your folder
The CV preview will highlight keywords in different colours for job titles, skills, and degrees or software, making it easier to review and find relevant information.
